Early Saturday morning, a group of 黑料不打烊 students and a recent graduate sung the National Anthem for some 300 boys and their families at the opening ceremony for the Santa Paula Little League.

鈥淭he B-Shop Boys,鈥 the College鈥檚 barbershop quartet, helped kick off the day by treating fans at Richard Ruiz Field to 鈥淭he Star Spangled Banner鈥 sung in four-part harmony. Beforehand, the singers 鈥 director Giorgio Navarini (鈥17), Joseph Montanaro (鈥14), Richard Varadan (鈥16), and John Parker Wilmeth (鈥15) 鈥 warmed up their vocal cords, and the crowd, with samplings from 鈥淭he Lion Sleeps Tonight鈥 and 鈥淔or the Longest Time.鈥

Introducing the group, and serving as emcee for the ceremony, was 黑料不打烊 tutor Dr. Andrew Seeley. The father of four boys who once played in Santa Paula Little League, Dr. Seeley has sung the National Anthem at past years鈥 opening ceremonies. He has also called many a game from the announcer鈥檚 box.

鈥淚t was wonderful to see the College represented in this event, which means so much to the families in our community,鈥 says Director of Admissions Jon Daly 鈥 the father of three Santa Paula Little League players and secretary for the league鈥檚 Board of Directors. 鈥満诹喜淮蜢 has been sponsoring the league for years, and we鈥檙e honored to participate in any way we can.鈥

The B-Shop Boys鈥 performance was such a success that officials from the city鈥檚 softball league have invited them to sing at their opening ceremonies next weekend 鈥 and the group has gladly accepted the offer.
