Black letters now appear above the central archway of the College’s newest building, announcing its name to passersby: St. Gladys Hall.

With that small addition, the construction project on the northwest corner of the academic quadrangle looks ever more like the new classroom building it will soon become. Across the quadrangle, workers have installed matching lettering on the College’s first dedicated classroom building, St. Augustine Hall.

The lettering is the most visible sign of the “excellent progress” being made on St. Gladys Hall, according to Vice President for Finance and Administration Peter L. DeLuca. “The interior woodwork is nearly complete, and tile work is underway. The fire sprinkler system will be finalized as soon as the connection to the water supply is finished. Exterior paving is in progress, and work has begun to complete the large fountain that will ornament the rear patio area.” The building should be “substantially complete,” he says, by the end of May.
