Get with the Program workshop

After three workshops on studying, writing papers, and managing mental health, the 鈥淕et With the Program鈥 series on the New England campus came to a close last weekend, with a final a workshop titled, 鈥淭ime Management, Building Good Habits, and Other Skills For a Life Well Lived.鈥

Presented jointly by Student Career Coordinator Emily (Barry 鈥11) Sullivan and Assistant Dean Dr. Stephen Shivone, the workshop consisted of two parts. The first featured a presentation introducing students to the idea of 鈥渁 plan of life鈥 鈥 a routine one imposes to nurture spiritual growth. Pedro da Silva (鈥25) spoke about how having a plan of life allowed him to reduce stress, make time for prayer, and live well. 鈥淚 used to say, 鈥業 don鈥檛 have time,鈥欌 he told the attendees. 鈥淚t wasn鈥檛 that I 诲颈诲苍鈥檛 have time, it was that I was not using it well.鈥 Mrs. Sullivan then spoke about how best to make and implement a plan of life, giving practical advice about scheduling and building solid habits.

Following a break for a much-enjoyed Chipotle lunch, students congregated upstairs in the Bl. Frassati Student Center for the second part of the workshop, a bullet journaling tutorial. After learning the basics of this hybrid journal/calendar system, attendees unleashed their creativity as they filled in their journals and embellished them. 鈥淭his is so nice,鈥 said Luisa Gemaque (鈥28). 鈥淚t鈥檚 relaxing but also productive!鈥

Many students stayed well into the mid-afternoon, chatting and journaling. 鈥淭hese workshops have been a huge success,鈥 said Mrs. Sullivan. 鈥淲ith our newly expanded freshman class, I鈥檓 glad we鈥檙e able to help students thrive at TAC.鈥
