Halloween Dance

It鈥檚 alive! The class of 2026 spawned a spooky mad scientist-themed soiree for their fellow students last Saturday.

As they stepped through the doors of Bl. Frassati Student Center, students were instantly transported to a spooky, slimy mad scientist鈥檚 laboratory filled with bubbling beakers, blinking lights, and mysterious music. The dance floor was illuminated by neon string lights, and spiderwebs were swathed over the walls and ceiling. Green slime dripped off the snack tables, which held cheesy 鈥渆yeballs,鈥 crackers, salami, and green punch. 鈥淲e worked so hard on the snacks,鈥 said Olivia Rosebrough (鈥26). 鈥淲e really wanted them to suit the theme!鈥

For the night鈥檚 entertainment, in a video shot and directed by Sam Livingston (鈥26), juniors embodied classic Scooby-Doo characters to solve a mystery. As they investigated the disappearances of their fellow classmates, the gang solved math problems, ran through hallways, and unmasked the villain, all while the audience laughed at their peers鈥 zany antics.

Following the video were the costume contests, which saw Gerald Faist (鈥27) win first prize in the singles competition for his 80s punk-rock getup. 鈥淚鈥檓 basically every tutor鈥檚 wild younger self,鈥 he joked, showing off his spiked leather jacket. The group costume winners were a band of dedicated sophomores dressed as statues, featuring stoic busts of presidents and personifications of virtues. Wheeled around the competition circle on dollies, the statues kept their solid composure until they were announced as the winners, finally breaking character as they celebrated.

Costumed students soon filled the dance floor, dancing to Halloween tunes such as the Ghostbusters theme and the 鈥淢onster Mash.鈥 鈥淭his dance is practically perfect in every way!鈥 said Sophie Schindler (鈥28) who dressed as Mary Poppins. Other students agreed: 鈥淭he juniors really brought the Frankenstein theme to life,鈥 quipped Madeline Rogers (鈥28). 鈥淧un intended!鈥
